Meet your candidate: Daniel Wemyss for Hilsea

Dear resident,

I am proud to be standing for the ward I grew up in, a local lad realising his dream of serving the public and the local community.

In normal circumstances I would be knocking on doors to introduce myself but, with COVID restrictions still in place, traditional campaigning is not currently possible. I wish this wasn’t the case, but we must put the safety of residents first. The government, for all of its criticisms over the past year is doing an incredible job together with the NHS in rolling out the COVID vaccine.

For the last four years, I have been a caseworker for Penny Mordaunt MP, and during this time I have seen what can be accomplished when people come together for a common goal. I have a wealth of experience in assisting people and I will take this knowledge and experience with me to the council.

I have been working closely with the other ward councillors to ensure Hilsea gets the attention it deserves. Cllrs Donna Jones, Frank Jonas and Scott Payter-Harris have been serving your ward for many years and I know with Donna stepping down to run as Police and Crime Commissioner we need someone to step into her shoes who can hit the ground running.

I am keen to engage with the community, be accessible and proactive, as well as bring new energy to the council. Empowering young people is a passion of mine and something I will continue to pursue if elected.

If there is anything you’d like to discuss with me whether it be litter, graffiti, fly-tipping, parking, or various other issues, please contact me using the contact details provided in this letter. You can also follow me on my Facebook page: facebook.com/DanielWemyssforHilsea

I will be a strong voice for Hilsea:

1. I have a record of community action.

2. I am from the area and I know the needs of residents.

3. I want Hilsea to receive the attention from the council it deserves.

4. Tackle anti-social behaviour locally and associated crime.

5. Work with local councillors on issues such as parking, state

of the roads and community safety.

6. Work with Penny Mordaunt MP to improve local leisure facilities such as the Lido.

7. Campaign for more investment into our area.

I believe I am the best person to deliver that strong representation.

Sincerely, and stay safe.

Daniel Wemyss

Conservative candidate for Hilsea ward
