Conservative community campaigner Ben Swann has been visiting residents across Stamshaw, Northend and Buckland to discuss the topic of recycling and enviromental issues.
Ben Swann said, "Recycling rates and behaviours have been a real issue across Portsmouth for years and years. Compared to the rest of Hampshire, the city has a lower recycling rate, which clearly will have an impact on the environment when you think of the bigger picture.
I've been meeting with local people and it's clear to me that people aren't anti recycling, they're just either not used to it, or live in areas that can't always be serviced by a large green recycling wheelie bin. There are other obstacles too, which I'll be raising directly. I think changing attitudes towards recycling and to help the environment is something that the whole community can get behind."
