Cllr. Robert New wins vital funding to protect residents across Portsmouth

Cllr. Robert New (Copnor Ward) has successfully won more than 70 million pounds in funding from Government to protect residents across Portsmouth.

Phase 1 will works will start in the Spring of 2015 in Anchorage Park. Anchorage Park and Copnor have long suffered from coastal flooding, high tides and road flooding.

Cllr. Robert New said "For too long Portsmouth North was overlooked by the previous LibDem administration. When the Conservatives won control of the Council in May 2014, I made it my priority to meet with coastal engineers to start work on this project. Through hard work we have been successful in winning this money to protect the homes across Portsmouth.

After Anchorage Park, the north of Portsea Island will see improvements from the Mountbatten Centre right round to Milton on the East of the island.

Phase 2 will protect Old Portsmouth and Southsea and will commence after the completion of Phase 1. I'm really proud that as the local Councillor for Copnor and Anchorage Park that i've been able to quickly bring a very positive campaign to fruition to protect both my residents and residents across the whole island."
