Protecting Buses

Portsmouth's Conservative Administration have protected buses from cuts for the next financial year.

Over £300,000 is spent by the council each year subsidising routes that wouldn't other wise be financially viable. Cllr Ken Ellcome Cabinet Member for Traffic & Transport said, " these routes are vital for people who travel around the city. We want to encourage people to use public transport and that's why we've protected the routes previously at risk."

Local Community Activist Scott Harris added, "Buses across Portsmouth provide vital transport links for the elderly, vulnerable, families and students. It's important that we protect and maintain the services across the city".
